College Essay Coach Responsibilities
College Essay Coaches guide and encourage high school students throughout the entire college application essay writing process, from brainstorming possible topics to finally proofreading essays in preparation for submission. Below is a list of likely tasks:
Work one-on-one with a student to brainstorm, draft, revise, and/or edit college application essays
Edit student essays remotely using our Google Docs-based editing software
Help students investigate universities for opportunities that fit their academic, career, and social interests
Track and facilitate your students progress towards completing their college application essays comfortably before submission deadlines
Lead and/or design small workshops to help students understand a particular type of college application essay or writing technique
Manage and work with a small group of students as they write and revise their college application essays
Qualifications
Experience working with middle school, high school, and/or college students, particularly in the field of language arts and/or writing
Bachelors Degree or higher
Impeccable communication skills, particularly in high-stakes writing and editing
Mastery of G Suite products (Google Docs, Sheets, Slides)
Able to work ~5 hours/week in the spring, summer, and fall
Compensation
$30-35/hr for essay coaching and $10/hr for training with opportunities for referral bonuses and annual increases
