Key Responsibilities
Audit Preparation:
• Organize and review financial records to ensure accuracy and compliance with federal tax laws.
• Assist in gathering, analyzing, and presenting documentation required for the audit.
Compliance Verification:
• Ensure all tax filings adhere to IRS regulations and guidelines.
• Identify discrepancies or issues in tax records and recommend corrective actions.
Audit Representation:
• Act as a liaison between the client and IRS auditors during the audit process.
• Address inquiries and provide clarifications on financial data and filings.
Risk Assessment:
• Evaluate areas of potential risk in tax filings and provide guidance to mitigate penalties or issues.
• Propose strategies to optimize compliance and minimize audit findings.
Reporting:
• Prepare detailed reports summarizing audit findings and recommendations.
• Offer post-audit advisory on maintaining compliance for future filings.
Key Requirements
Qualifications:
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA): Active certification in good standing.
• U.S. Native: Deep understanding of the U.S. tax system and residency status for access to sensitive data.
Experience:
• At least 5+ years of experience in tax audits or accounting, with a focus on federal tax matters.
• Demonstrated experience handling IRS audits, either as a representative or a consultant.
• Expertise in U.S. Federal Tax regulations, codes, and audit procedures.
• Familiarity with tax software and tools such as QuickBooks, ProConnect Tax, or similar platforms.
Skills:
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
• Excellent communication skills to effectively liaise with stakeholders and auditors.
• Attention to detail and ability to manage large volumes of financial data.
• Confidentiality and integrity in handling sensitive financial information.
Availability & Commitment:
• Ability to dedicate the necessary time to meet deadlines throughout the audit process.
• Flexible to attend meetings, respond to inquiries, and adjust schedules as needed.
