As a FedEx Freight Shipping Associate, your main responsibility will be to manage the processing and movement of freight within the facility. • Assist customers with freight and freight documentation as needed.
• Perform hostling duties if required.

• Perform freight handling using appropriate motorized and manual equipment, including but not limited to: forklift, pallet jack and hand truck.
• Verify documentation matches freight description (e.g. type, weight, hazardous materials), using current electronic or manual system.
• Secure freight inside trailers using appropriate tools and supplies (e.g. pallets, straps, rope).
• Recoup/repair damaged freight when necessary.

Qualification of FedEx Freight Shipping Associate:
• Ideally, the candidate will have accomplished their high school education or a similar equivalent.
• There is a minimum age limit of 18 years that must be met.
• Ideally, applicants would have a background in warehousing, freight handling, or maneuvering a forklift.
• Those who have previously taken up hostler/yard mule responsibilities are given priority for the role.
• Possessing the skillset to count and perform basic arithmetic procedures, with or without an electronic device.
• Written and oral communication involves more than just conveying information; it also includes active listening and empathy to comprehend other people’s perspectives.
• Experienced in moving and lifting manual freight that varies in weight several times weekly, as well as in elevating dock plates that weigh about 100 pounds and unlatching trailer doors requiring roughly 75 pounds of force, sometimes multiple times daily.
• It is crucial to have the capability to bend, rotate, crouch, and transfer goods by pushing and pulling throughout the duration of the shift.
• Exhibiting proficiency in both independent work and teamwork.
• It is preferable to have worked in a dock or warehouse before.
