Job Description:
The Library Assistant will be responsible for providing assistance to library patrons, managing library materials, and performing various administrative tasks. This role requires excellent customer service skills, attention to detail, and a strong commitment to public service.
Responsibilities:
– Assisting patrons in finding and using library resources, including books, electronic databases, and internet resources
– Checking in and out library materials
– Re-shelving books and ensuring library materials are in order
– Answering phones and responding to patron inquiries
– Performing administrative duties such as data entry and record keeping
Requirements:
– Strong interpersonal skills and a customer service-oriented approach
– Basic knowledge of computer applications and electronic databases
– Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize work
– Excellent verbal and written communication skills
– Ability to lift and move books and other library materials
Educational Qualifications:
A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Prior experience in a library setting is preferred, but not necessary.
Experience:
While no formal experience is required, applicants with previous customer service or library experience will be given preference.
