About the role:

We, at Turing, are looking for talented remote lead back-end engineers who will be responsible for leading the development of all server-side logic, denition and maintenance of the central database, ensuring high performant and responsive requests from the front-end, and managing the interchange of data between the server and users. Job responsibilities:

– Lead the development of high-performing, scalable, responsive and available back-end infrastructure
– Contribute to the processes of site architecture, feature components, development process, SDLC tools, and system design
– Transform product requirements and technical designs into a well-structured, clean, scalable and robust code
– Explore new technologies or methodologies to improve the architecture, user experience, and the overall development process
– Participate in code reviews, pay attention to feedback and share your knowledge with other team members and stakeholders
– Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement new growth initiatives
– Recognize performance bottlenecks, propose and implement effective solutions

Job requirements:

– Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or IT (or equivalent experience)
– 5+ years of experience in back-end software development (rare exceptions for highly skilled developers)
– In-depth understanding of web development and recent development experience with Ruby/Node
– Strong experience with programming languages like Java, Ruby, PHP and Python
– Sound knowledge and expertise in CMS framework
– Solid understanding of server-side CSS preprocessors, such as LESS and SASS
– Strong grasp of software engineering development cycles, software engineering fundamentals and their practical applications
– Knowledge of back-end services or distributed systems
– Expertise in OOP languages like Java, Python, R, Ruby, Perl, etc. and tools like PostgreSQL and Redis
– Fluent in English to communicate effectively
– Ability to work full-time (40 hours/week) with a 4 hour overlap with US time zones
