Job Overview
We are actively seeking a dedicated Oracle WebLogic Server Administrator to join our team in a full-time capacity. This role will involve providing expert guidance and hands-on support for the management and optimization of a complex Oracle WebLogic environment. Flexibility in working hours may be required for scheduled maintenance, including potential weekend or after-hours… work.
Work Environment
Initially, the selected candidate will be required to work on-site for the first three months at the New York City Police Pension Fund, located at 233 Broadway, 25th Floor, New York, NY 10279. Regular working hours are set from Monday to Friday, 8:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. Eastern Standard Time (EST), totaling 35 hours per week, exclusive of a mandatory one-hour unpaid meal break. Following the initial three-month period, the option for remote work will be determined by the project manager.
Key Responsibilities
• Performance Optimization: Analyze and resolve performance bottlenecks within the Oracle WebLogic Servers to ensure optimal application performance for end-users.
• Automation and Scripting: Employ scripting languages such as Bash and WLST to enhance operational efficiency.
• Backup and Recovery Strategy: Create and implement a robust backup and recovery strategy to protect critical data, including conducting periodic recovery drills.
• Monitoring and Alerts: Collaborate with the IT team to establish proactive monitoring and alerts for system health and resource usage.
• Documentation and Knowledge Sharing: Maintain current documentation regarding server configurations, security protocols, and overall infrastructure architecture.
• Capacity Planning: Evaluate historical usage patterns to predict future resource needs, supporting informed infrastructure decisions.
• Incident Response and Problem Resolution: Provide advanced technical support for escalated incidents, performing root cause analysis and implementing preventive solutions.
• Collaboration and Communication: Work in close partnership with cross-functional teams, effectively conveying technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Patching and Maintenance: Coordinate quarterly installations of patches and upgrades for Java, ensuring proper procedures are followed during server downtime.
Required Skills
• Extensive experience administering Oracle WebLogic Server (version 12.2.1.3.0 or higher).
• Proficiency in scripting languages such as Bash and WLST.
• Strong understanding of clustering, load balancing, and high availability configurations.
• Incident management and resolution skills, including on-call support.
• Familiarity with Red Hat systems.
Qualifications
• U.S. citizenship.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
• A minimum of 10 years of experience administering Oracle WebLogic Server in enterprise environments.
