Senior Mechanical Engineer Responsibilities:
路 Design of various pressure vessel types, and shapes to accommodate vehicle space allocation and integration envelope.
路 Design of fluid lines and flex elements for cryogenic and space application…
路 Drawing generation, including tolerance and GD&T setup.
路 Ownership of design release cycle, including drawings release, and DFM reviews.
路 Analysis of primary and secondary spacecraft pressure vessels
路 Integration of structural analysis with loads and dynamics environments
路 Finite Element Model development, refinement, validation, and correlation to tests
路 Strength checks and analysis report generation
路 Test and verification plan and report generation
路 Support configuration development and trade studies
Minimum Qualifications:
路 Minimum of a B.S. degree in Mechanical, Aerospace or Civil Engineering
路 8+ years of experience in the prediction/validation of low and/or high-frequency structural dynamics and loads, in addition to finite element modeling
路 Solid foundation of structural static/dynamic fundamentals
路 Passion for spacecraft structural/environmental loads development/validation
路 Ability to solve a variety of static and dynamic structural problems using physics-based analytical methods (hand calculations, in-house tools, and 3rd party commercial analytical tools)
路 Experience with aircraft, spacecraft, launch vehicles, or automotive in some of the following areas:
o External loads
o Vibro-acoustic analysis
o Thermal Loading
o Analysis using Nastran, Ansys, Abaqus, LS-Dyna, or Optistruct
路 Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion
Preferred Qualifications:
路 COPV Pressure Vessel design and analysis
路 Metallic Pressure Vessel design and analysis
路 Fluids Lines design and analysis
路 Flex Elements design and anlysis
路 Composite design and analysis skills in any thermoset, thermoplastic, metal matrix and ceramic matrix composites
路 Manufacturing methods, material selection, testing, characterization & allowable development
路 Experience testing materials, joints, components and vehicles
路 Structural optimization using standard industry codes (Optistruct, HyperSizer, Nastran Sol 200, etc)
路 Experience with ProEngineer Wildfire 4 / Creo Parametric or greater
路 Experience with ProEngineer Wildfire 4 / Creo Parametric or greater piping / routing module
路 Experience with Human spaceflight
路 Experience with composites
路 Experience with AIAA S-080 and S-081
路 Experience with EJMA Ninth and Tenth Edition
