Living Better Life and Inclusive Data are proud to partner with a leading healthcare foundation in North Carolina to provide grant-writing services to their grantee organizations. Our commitment is to help community-based organizations (CBOs) secure critical funding to drive social change. We are seeking a passionate and experienced bilingual (English and Spanish) Grant Writer to join our team on a flexible, contract basis and contribute to this impactful mission.
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in large foundation, state, and federal grant writing, a strong equity lens, and the ability to engage effectively with diverse communities and stakeholders. They must also have knowledge or experience in strategic focus areas such as access to care, healthcare workforce, early childhood, healthy food, oral health, healthy communities, and youth behavioral health. This position requires exceptional organizational and communication skills, the ability to manage multiple projects, and an understanding of how to build meaningful relationships with CBOs.
Key Responsibilities:
Grant Proposal Writing:
• Develop compelling, competitive, data-driven proposals that effectively articulate programs and impact.
• Write larger, detailed proposals that meet funder requirements, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and relevance.
• Quantity expectation over the one-year period of performance: 2 federal-level grants (or equivalent size), 3 state-level grants (or equivalent size)
Equity-Centered Approach:
• Apply an equity lens to all aspects of the grant-writing process, ensuring proposals are inclusive and reflective of diverse community perspectives, including racial, social, disability, language, and food justice.
Collaboration with CBOs:
• Build trust and rapport with CBOs, establish timelines, and set up meetings proactively to gather necessary information.
• Support partners in completing attachments and budgets, ensuring their needs are represented.
Budget Development:
• Develop and review budgets in close collaboration with internal teams and CBOs to ensure financial accuracy and alignment with proposal requirements.
Multi-Project Management:
• Handle multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail and meeting deadlines.
• Demonstrate adaptability and flexibility in responding to changing organizational and funder needs.
Qualifications:
Experience:
• Proven experience in foundation, state, and/or federal grant writing with a strong track record of funded proposals.
• Experience handling budgets and developing data-driven grant proposals.
• Knowledge or experience in health equity fields, including access to care, healthcare workforce, early childhood, healthy food, oral health, healthy communities, and youth behavioral health.
• Ideally located in North Carolina or experienced with NC-based nonprofits but not required.
Skills:
• Strong writing, organizational, and time-management skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively and build relationships with diverse CBOs and stakeholders.
• Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is required, to enhance outreach and communication with diverse organizations and communities.
• Proactive approach to obtaining necessary information and supporting CBOs throughout the grant process.
