Join Target’s OBPDP team as a Trend + Concept Designer in creating the next generation of original and market-leading designs. This position offers an exciting opportunity for influential trend research and innovative concept development, which will shape Target’s Owned Brands.
Overview
As a Trend Designer, you will lead the research, reporting, and conceptual direction of emerging trends for Target-owned consumer products. Within the Product Design Team, you will have an opportunity to impact the FUN 101 portfolio: Consumer Electronics, Sporting Goods, Travel, and Toys, through identifying emerging trends, guest needs, and white space market opportunities.
Responsibilities
Develop and present compelling visual trend materials and brand concepts to meet Target standards in style, quality, performance, and value.
Maintain continued research of market trends, balancing data-driven insights with creative intuition
Partner with Trend Team to drive merchant counterparts and cross-functional design partners through Macro Trend reporting
Lead the development of concept for assigned brands/categories
Survey competitive landscape for best in class products to identify white space
Demonstrate strong knowledge of Target’s Owned Brand Portfolio and national brand positioning
Create and maintain ROI data while understanding financial impacts
Coach and develop associate designers & team members
Synthesize complex information and communicate appropriate levels of detail
Manage multiple projects while adhering to schedules in fast paced retail environment
Required Qualifications
4 yr college degree in Design (industrial, architecture, fashion, graphic design) or equivalent experience
4-6 yrs relevant Trend Designer, Concept or Design experience; retail exp preferred
Excellent trend industry resources and tracking new developments from cultural events through to social media
Strong communication, presentation, organizational and project management skills
Demonstrated ability to translate trend information into dynamic visual materials
Strong design thinking and strategic mindset
Passion for Design, Technology, Culture and Brand building
Commercial design and color sensibility
Self-motivated with ability to work independently
Strong relationship-building and collaboration skills
Working knowledge of hard and soft goods manufacturing
Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Programs
Available for travel as needed

This Trend Designer role offers flexible work options:
Remote: Full-time work from home/alternate location with up to 4 annual HQ visits Hybrid (“Flex for Your Day”): Mix of remote and onsite work based on role requirements
Geographic Restrictions: Team Members in Target General Merch Inc cannot work more than 30 days per calendar year in: AL, AR, DE, FL, IN, IA, LA, MD, MS, MO, NC, OK, PA, SC, TN and VA.
