Description:
• Facilitate communication access among Deaf and hearing communities
• Provide interpreting and/or transliterating services primarily in the healthcare environment
• Keep all medical information strictly confidential
• Follow the NAD-RID Professional Code of Conduct
• Render the message faithfully, always conveying the content and spirit of the speaker
• Accept assignments using discretion with regard to skill, setting, and the consumers involved
• Function in a manner appropriate to each interpreted situation
• Strive to further knowledge and skills through professional development
• Maintain high professional standards by virtue of professional membership, certification, and ethical practices.
Requirements:
• Complete proficiency in ASL
• Valid certification from the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID)
• Knowledge of the NAD-RID Professional Code of Conduct
• Self-motivated with good customer service skills
• Able to work well with minimal supervision
• Good judgment and problem-solving abilities
• Strong attention to detail
• Ability to plan ahead and maintain a flexible work schedule
• Strong coaching, development, and communication skills
• Experience using MS Office and other related software and systems (e.g., Internet and Intranet applications)
• Medical interpretation experience
