What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
– Inspect and analyze equipment, diagnosing malfunctions, and maintaining and repairing mechanical and electrical systems
– Perform maintenance on vehicles, motors, kitchen appliances, and motorized equipment
– Operate groundskeeping equipment such as plow trucks, snow blowers, and mowers
– Supervise and train inmates in mechanical maintenance and repair work assignments
– Maintain security in the work environment and keep maintenance records
What is Required (Qualifications):
– Experience or training in construction or repair of structures
– Experience or training in general maintenance and repairs in areas such as plumbing, HVAC, and electrical work
– Experience operating powered grounds maintenance equipment
– Must possess a valid driver’s license for some positions
– Physical ability to perform manual labor, including climbing, bending, crawling, and lifting
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
– Experience with welding, lifts, and generators
– Familiarity with blueprints and schematics for facility repairs
– Previous experience working in a correctional facility or similar environment
