What you’ll do:
• We engage in continuous training and development of our staff to ensure that they are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to deliver exceptional services.
• Guide customers in the selection of merchandise that aligns with their unique requirements.
• Display a deep understanding of the unique needs and personalities of different animal species.
• Perform cashiering duties.
• Execute tasks that are connected to the store’s mission of meeting its sales target.
• It is necessary to have a well-stocked and appropriately priced inventory for the business to run smoothly.
• Adhere to standardized procedures and protocols in store operations to maintain the brand’s reputation and integrity.
• Meticulously evaluating guest inquiries and partnering with leadership, as needed, can help maintain a high standard of customer service.
Key Accountabilities:
• The individual must be able to competently perform all of the assigned tasks and fulfill all responsibilities that come with the position regularly, be it with or without a reasonable accommodation.
• By taking care of live animals in accordance with Petco’s policies and procedures, their health and happiness can be ensured. Performing the regular animal health check and wellness cards, as prescribed by Petco, is a crucial component of this obligation.
• Persuasively communicates with professional contacts, keeping the company’s interests in mind through effective verbal and written communication.
• Provides timely and courteous service to all Petco guests, identifying their needs and utilizing expertise of products to suggest the most suitable merchandise. Uses effective suggestive selling techniques to enhance sales outcomes.
• The combination of nutrition education, Welcome to the Family and suggestive selling can produce a compelling sales approach that resonates with customers and helps retain them in the long run.
• Maintaining exceptional guest services through all channels, including Instacart, Extended Aisle and Repeat Delivery, to ensure outstanding guest experiences.
• Manages point-of-sale operations by overseeing cash sales, credit card transactions, and returns and exchanges.
• Assists in the arrangement and display of merchandise as per predetermined protocols.
• Facilitates cash register transactions and carries merchandise for guests, with a weight limit not exceeding 50 pounds per trip.
• Follows guidelines put in place to prevent any losses.
• – Aids in the upkeep of store inventory levels by assisting with the loading, unloading and stocking of merchandise in accordance with established procedures, facilitating precise inventory records and satisfactory product availability.
• The well-being and good health of store animals, such as birds, reptiles, and fish, should be a top priority, ensuring that their habitats are clean, secure, and maintained to a high standard.
• If any animal, reptile, bird or fish needs medical attention or unique care, store leaders are alerted without delay.
• Upholds the store’s professional image and appearance by performing routine housekeeping tasks as required. These tasks include sweeping and mopping the floors, dusting, washing the windows, facing the merchandise, and maintaining the restrooms.
• Helps store leadership with opening and closing procedures by providing assistance where needed and ensuring the accurate completion of any required paperwork.
• Participates in the process of completing quarterly and year-end physical inventory counts.
• Complies with and endorses authorized safety measures while maintaining a spotless, safe, and salubrious habitat for store associates, patrons, and their pets.
• Accomplishes specific projects in accordance with instructions.

Work Environment:
Though some job tasks require briefly stepping outside the store, most of the duties are conducted indoors. Standing for lengthy periods, moving merchandise frequently, and undertaking physical tasks like bending and kneeling are normal activities. The job requires the capacity to carry up to 50 lbs and tow up to 2000 lbs with material handling equipment. Not following safety guidelines or employing poor lifting techniques when performing these tasks can put customers, pets, and store personnel at risk of harm. Observing proper safety procedures at all times is vital.
