Job Description
We are seeking a knowledgeable and detail-oriented Human Resources Manager to provide comprehensive HR support on a remote, hourly basis. This role involves assisting with job postings, conducting interviews, streamlining onboarding processes, and ensuring compliance with HR laws and regulations for a remote U.S. and international workforce, including independent contractors. The ideal candidate is experienced in managing HR for a global team, understands the unique nuances of independent contractor relationships, and is proficient in both U.S. and international labor and compliance laws.
Key Responsibilities
• Recruitment & Hiring Support
• Draft and post job descriptions to attract a diverse global talent pool, including employees and independent contractors.
• Screen resumes and shortlist candidates based on qualifications.
• Conduct preliminary interviews and coordinate with hiring managers for final rounds.
• Maintain a pipeline of talent for future hiring needs.
Onboarding & Offboarding
• Design and execute a seamless onboarding process tailored for employees and independent contractors in the U.S. and internationally.
• Ensure contracts, agreements, and documentation comply with applicable labor laws and regulations for both employees and contractors.
• Provide clear orientation materials that outline the rights and responsibilities of independent contractors.
• Manage exit interviews and offboarding procedures while addressing compliance requirements globally.
HR Compliance & Contractor Management
• Ensure compliance with U.S. and international employment laws, including regulations for independent contractors (e.g., proper classification under IRS and labor law guidelines).
• Advise on contractor agreements, tax implications, and compliance with local and international labor laws.
• Stay updated on changing laws and provide guidance on the misclassification of employees vs. independent contractors.
• Maintain accurate records to ensure data privacy and legal compliance (e.g., HIPAA, GDPR, PIPEDA).
Employee and Contractor Relations
• Address and resolve inquiries, concerns, and grievances from employees and independent contractors.
• Mediate conflicts and provide guidance on performance improvement plans where applicable.
• Support management with strategies to improve engagement and retention for both employees and contractors.
Policy and Training Development
• Draft, update, and enforce HR policies and procedures, including independent contractor agreements and remote workforce guidelines.
• Assist in creating a comprehensive handbook for both employees and contractors tailored to U.S. and international needs.
