What you’ll do:

• Accurately pricing and stocking the merchandise is crucial for maintaining a positive image.
• Adhere to prescribed procedures and protocols in the store to achieve efficiency in daily tasks and routines.
• Assessing guest queries and directing them to the Guest Experience Leader or the Leader on Duty, when necessary, is an important part of the job.
Key Accountabilities:
• The incumbent must be able to carry out all duties and responsibilities allocated to them consistently and conscientiously, regardless of the need for a reasonable accommodation.
• It is critical to follow Petco’s animal welfare guidelines to maintain the good health and quality of life of live animals in our care. The hourly animal health check and wellness cards play a critical role in carrying out this duty.
• Exhibits skilled and effective communication with all professional contacts while keeping the company’s interests at heart.
• Provides courteous and efficient service to every customer at Petco, by ascertaining their needs and utilizing knowledge of products to suggest the appropriate merchandise. Uses suggestive selling techniques to give an extra edge to individual sales.
• Proficient understanding of nutrition and its impact on health, along with expertise in Pals Rewards membership sign-up and effective suggestive selling techniques, can substantially boost sales for the company.
• Maintaining high-quality guest services through all Omni-channel programs, such as Instacart, Extended Aisle, and Repeat Delivery.
• Provides point-of-sale services to customers by conducting various transactions, such as processing cash sales, handling credit card payments, and facilitating returns or exchanges.
• Helps to stock and present products in an organized and standardized manner.
• Executes Cash register transactions while additionally assisting guests in carrying merchandise which does not exceed 50 pounds.
• Complies with procedures aimed at loss prevention.
• – Contributes to store efficiency by helping with the handling, receiving and placement of merchandise using approved methods, resulting in adequate product availability and accurate inventory records.
• Store animals like birds, reptiles, and fish require constant care and attention to keep them in good health, maintain a clean habitat, and secure living conditions.
• In the event of an animal, bird, reptile or fish requiring medical attention or specialized care, store leaders will be alerted immediately.
• To ensure that the store’s professional image is maintained, the staff performs various housekeeping duties including, but not limited to, sweeping, mopping, dusting, window washing, facing the merchandise, and restocking the restrooms.
• Provides aid to store leadership in the opening and closing process, including ensuring that all paperwork is correctly filled out.
• Assists in the execution of quarterly and annual physical inventory tallies.
• Observes and upholds established safety regulations and ensures a tidy, secure, and sound milieu for store staff, clients, and their animal companions.
• Performs bespoke tasks based on directives.
Supervisory Responsibility:
• None.
Work Environment:
The bulk of responsibilities occur inside the store, with few job duties requiring leaving the premises. Standing for prolonged periods, handling merchandise and undertaking physical tasks like bending and kneeling are required. Capabilities of lifting up to 50 lbs and pulling up to 2000 lbs through material handling equipment are likewise expected. Failure to use appropriate safety equipment or execute good lifting techniques while performing these duties can pose a hazard to store personnel, customers, and pets. It is essential to follow safety procedures and guidelines.
