JOB SUMMARY:
NEC is seeking a dynamic, versatile, and collegial artist-teacher (bass or bass-baritone) to join the voice faculty. The ideal candidate is an innovative educator who teaches healthy singing habits to undergraduate, graduate, and pre-professional singers in a wide range of repertoire. The candidate will actively recruit students, and will possess a keen understanding of the… professional aspirations of conservatory voice students and the field into which they will graduate. The candidate will offer career guidance, mentorship, and connections to the field to help students prepare for versatile and meaningful lives in music. This is a part-time, in-person position: up to 12 scheduled teaching hours per week with the opportunity to expand into a full-time position (16 or more teaching hours per week), according to enrollment needs. RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Teach individual studio voice lessons to graduate and undergraduate students
• Recruit, retain, and mentor a diverse student body of the highest quality
• Attend performances of studio students and the department
• Attend and participate in admissions auditions and end-of-year promotionals (performance examinations)
• Comply with curriculum and pedagogical standards set by Department Chair and NEC’s administration
• Participate in faculty trainings, departmental meetings, and the life of the conservatory
• Provide career guidance and mentorship to students
