Position Summary
The Senior Network Engineer oversees and provides the installation, maintenance, support and enhancements to the enterprise Network infrastructure. This position supports the functions which contribute to the continued operation of Information Technologies (IT) department including network design, hardware deployment, network security, remote facility deployment and maintenance, carrier management, purchase recommendations and research, capacity planning, performance analysis, monitoring, documentation, and reporting.
Primary Duties and Resposibilities
1.Performs all tasks with a customer-centric focus, weighing individual customer (internal and external) needs with the overall needs of the business.
2.Design and deploy functional networks (LAN, WLAN, WAN)
3.Configure and install software, servers, routers and other network devices
4.Monitor network performance and integrity
5.Resolve issues tiers of support have escalated by troubleshooting cloud (AWS and Azure) and local infrastructure
6.Automate tasks and monitor their effectiveness
7.Mentor team members on technical issues
8.Create, oversee and test security measures (e.g. access authentication and disaster recovery)
9.Maintain complete technical documentation
10.Suggest improvements to network performance, capacity and scalability
11.Works with other team members in assessing requirements and developing action plans for accomplishing company goals through appropriate technical solutions.
12.Monitors Network performance, diagnoses network issues, and performs emergency and scheduled maintenance.
13.Maintains, monitors, and ensures all switches, routers, and other applicable devices and applications are properly configured, utilized, and maintained with latest firmware/software revisions.
14.Maintains WAN circuit IDs and contacts; trouble-shoot all Local Area Network (LAN) and Wide Area Network (WAN) links and devices.
15.Optimizes the network traffic routes and controls network broadcast storms.
16.Administers Internet Protocol (IP) address schemes and their assignment to network equipment.
17.Uses a variety of software/hardware monitoring/diagnostic tools and responds to network alarms, network degradation, and failures by diagnosing and then initiating network recovery process.
18.Improve network design by performing router scripting and filtering to identify/manage network bottlenecks and changing network traffic.
19.Recommends/provides network upgrade and expansion solutions.
Education and Experience:
oBachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related field, or equivalent work experience
oMust have 10 years demonstrated education, training, and experience in the following areas:
Network technologies and products from Cisco such as Switches, VOIP, Firewalls, Call Manager, Wireless controllers, Security, network management, etc.
In-depth understanding of communication protocols (mainly TCP/IP) and routing protocols (e.g. BGP, OSPF, EIGRP)
Knowledge of coding languages for scripting (e.g Python, Perl)
Experience with network diagnostic, monitoring and analysis tools (e.g. SolarWinds network tools)
Solid understanding of network operating systems (JUNOS, Cisco IOS)
Strong working knowledge of LAN/WAN infrastructure setups, switches, routers, firewalls, servers, VPN, and internet/intranet security architecture and applications
Strong knowledge and experience supporting remote offices utilizing T1, MPLS, and DMVPN, and Cisco PFR technologies
Strong knowledge and experience with data replication, load balancing, LAN/WAN acceleration, and bandwidth optimization appliances and technologies
Experience with network migrations/upgrades
Good working knowledge of Windows Active Directory administration.
Network certification is a plus

Experience with implementing and supporting PBX, VOIP, voicemail, wireless phone integration, data networking equipment, cabling management and support
Experience and knowledge with Cisco VOIP, Shortel, Nortel Option 11, 60, 80, BCM, and Norstar solutions
Knowledge and experience with Call Accounting software, ACD, IVR and Auto Attendant applications
Experience and familiarity with the design, installation, turn-up, troubleshooting, and support of voice circuits
Experience and familiarity communicating with and supporting customers and vendors, dealing with voice contracts, agreements, and billing
oServer
Maintains Active Directory users and groups, Exchange email accounts, Internet access, remote access, and application and file system security. This includes password maintenance, new user logon and setup, file access permissions, and data protection procedures.
Planning, configuring, implementing and maintaining the Active Directory Domain infrastructure, including building, maintaining, upgrading and supporting Domain Controllers.
Monitors server and storage performance, diagnoses server issues, and performs emergency and scheduled maintenance.
Knowledge and experience with Exchange Server, Anti-virus software, System monitoring software, HP servers (Physical / Blade), and domain migrations/upgrades
Good working knowledge of LAN/WAN infrastructure setups, switches, routers, firewalls, servers, VPN, and internet/intranet security architecture and applications
Maintains application/system portfolio benchmarking, evaluating and making recommendations for the selection of server and storage management software and hardware products.
