Our Mission at Helpful is to collectively engineer rapid and open solutions to sustainability challenges worldwide. Formed at the start of the COVID pandemic to address supply shortages through engineering, we grew to over 13,000 contributors in three weeks, now over 21,000 members in our Slack with hundreds of members active at any given time.
We have a proven, effective innovation model with projects deployed and designs downloaded millions of times. Helpful is now scaling to create and commercialize sustainability solutions across industries. The timing is right for Helpful as COVID unearthed many problems requiring quick crisis management. The need for a broad innovation community & quick mobilization to solve issues became starkly apparent. Especially in times when societal good” and Environmental, Social, and Governance(ESG) investment is becoming a substantial driving force for organizations

The Role
POSITION SUMMARY
This is a NON-PAYING volunteer position with a Nonprofit.
Position Overview: We are seeking a proactive and experienced Social Media Editor Lead to oversee our social media initiatives and content across various platforms. This volunteer, fully remote position is ideal for someone passionate about using social media for social good, enhancing community engagement, and expanding our digital footprint.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement a cohesive social media strategy that aligns with the organization’s goals and enhances visibility.
Lead and mentor the social media team in crafting, scheduling, and managing engaging posts tailored to different platforms such as LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, and more.
Collaborate with marketing, PR, and other departments to ensure a unified communication strategy and timely promotion of campaigns.
Monitor social media trends and analytics to guide content decisions and report on effectiveness of strategies.
Manage content calendars and ensure a steady stream of relevant updates that resonate with our audience.
Enhance community interaction and respond to comments and queries in a manner that boosts engagement and follower loyalty.
Support fundraising and promotional events through targeted social media campaigns and outreach.
Time Commitment:
Approximately 10-12 hours per week initially, reducing to 5-10 hours weekly thereafter.
Desired Skills and Qualifications:
Strong experience in social media management and content creation, with a minimum of 3 years in a leadership role.
Excellent understanding of the best practices of major social media channels, including but not limited to Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn.
Ability to craft shareable and engaging content tailored to each specific platform and audience.
Proven ability to analyze social media metrics and adjust strategies based on findings.
Strong communication and organizational skills, with the capability to manage and inspire a remote team.
Creative and strategic thinker with a passion for community-building and engagement.
