Place of Work: The position is remote and mobile, requiring travel throughout the Grant Counties of Gaston, Lincoln, Iredell, Catawba, and Rutherford. The projected salary range is: $51,000 to $55,000, based on experience Deadline: Open until filled.

Position’s Primary Function: The Employment Specialist will help members with substance use disorders find jobs in a five-county area and create a network of Recovery Friendly Workplaces. In order to maintain job growth, resource development, employee retention, and early detection of obstacles for individuals in recovery, this position is in charge of creating a sustainable infrastructure. The SAMHSA Workforce in Recovery (WIR) Grant’s employment specialist position aims to reduce SUD stigma and improve employee and employer satisfaction.

responsibilities and duties:

Establish rapport with WIR participants to learn about their employment objectives and challenges.
Identify and match members to suitable employment opportunities based on their interests and skills.
Give advice on how to write a resume, how to prepare for interviews, and how to look for a job.
By keeping accurate records and reports, you can keep track of member progress, job placements, and results.
Create a network of Recovery Friendly Employers and offer business owners and HR leaders technical support. By offering educational opportunities, collaborate with employers and employees to lessen the stigma that is portrayed.
Utilize resources provided by the State Workforce Development Board, each county’s local workforce development boards, and Workforce Investment Activities.

Second chance employment, record expungement, and bonding programs are some of the strategies that can help people with substance use disorders who are involved in the justice system overcome obstacles to employment.

In collaboration with the Recovery Friendly NC Coalition, provide guidance, support, and technical assistance for the implementation of a bespoke Recovery Friendly Workplace Plan.

Direct assessments and prior learning assessments that highlight prior knowledge, skills, competencies, and experiences are used in educational training programs that are developed, identified, and/or implemented.

Find ways to help employers educate employees about SUD-related resources to encourage recovery.
